ABOUT VHP
Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), the international Hindu organization was launched by prominent spiritual and cultural luminaries led by Parama Poojaneeya Mahadeva Sadashiva Golwalkar, Sri. S.S. Apte and Poojaneeya Swami Chinmayanandaji, on 29th August 1964, the auspicious Sree Krishna Janamashtami day, at Sandeeepani Ashram, Maharashtra, with the blessings of Bharat Mata.
The VHP considers Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs as well as native tribal religions as part of the greater Hindu fraternity. VHP has been involved in social service projects and also in encouraging the construction and renovation of Hindu temples.
The increase in Hindu religious activities across the world has led to the creation of this strong and confident Hindu organization. The roots of this great movement have spread to over 58 countries with direct organizational activities and in another 10 countries with wide contacts. VHP has been efficacious in bringing Dharmacharyas of all the sects of Hinduism on a single platform and also triumphed in pivoting the Hindu pride and unity in the society. Nevertheless, VHP is against the caste system, and vehemently opposes cow slaughter.
Eradication of social evils through tireless rejuvenation of society, and reawakening of the underlying Hindu unity can well be considered as the pinnacle of achievement of VHP. Voluntary homecoming of people to their native religion, Hinduism, in recent times can be considered as the telling effect of VHP on the society. The royal position currently enjoyed by Bharat before the entire universe is a proud evidence of the propagation of Sanathana Dharma in the entire world.
VHP with much of self-confidence and pride razed the controversial structure in Ayodhya to the ground and succeeded in consecrating the idol of Rama in the vital spot of Rama Janmabhumi. It’s a pride, now that a world class spiritual seat is being established there.
VHP has always been in forefront to protect the core values, beliefs and sacred Hindu traditions by which the organization has established as an indomitable force of Hindu society. The organisation acts under the guidance from Dharma Sansad, a religious parliament of Gurus.
